RPZ Valve Testing Requirements
When RPZ valves should be tested, what a test involves and how to keep your records compliant.
How often should RPZ valves be tested?
RPZ valves are generally subject to annual testing under UK water industry requirements. The exact obligation depends on the installation, the water supplier and the relevant requirements that apply to your premises, so we confirm the correct interval for each site.
What the test checks
The first check valve closes tightly and opens at the correct pressure.
The second check valve closes tightly and opens at the correct pressure.
The relief valve opens at the correct differential pressure.
No reverse flow or leakage passes through the assembly.
The valve provides the backflow protection required for the fluid category it serves.
Records you should keep
After each test you should retain documentation showing the date, the valve location, the results and the tester. We provide this for every valve we test, so you can demonstrate compliance to your water supplier and insurer.
